The Story
The Medjool is arguably the world's most celebrated date. Originating in the Saharan oases of Morocco, it was once reserved exclusively for Moroccan royalty. Today it flourishes in the Jordan Valley and California, but the finest specimens remain handpicked in the Sahara. Its defining characteristic is its extraordinary size — easily three to four times larger than most dates — and its intensely moist, almost fudge-like flesh. The skin is thin, slightly wrinkled, and separates cleanly from the sweet interior. When bitten, it collapses into layers of caramel, maple, and dark sugar.
Cultural Significance
Historically served exclusively to royalty and tribal chiefs in Morocco. Today it is the most gifted date variety worldwide, particularly during Ramadan and Eid celebrations across the Arab world and among Muslim communities globally.
